Frequently Asked Questions
Q. It's free. What's the catch?
A. Our model is different. Rewarded Interest can provide this extension to you because advertisers want an ID they can use to personalize ads. We charge the advertisers when they use your ID and share part of what they spend with you as Rewards*. We do not collect or sell data.

Q. Are the sites I visit impacted?
A. When you visit a site with Rewarded Interest we remove their consent dialog and pass your consent choices. This way the site gets your preferences and you get straight to the content. Unlike ad blockers, we do not harm the site's ability to make money – in fact, if you decide to allow your ID to be shared, the site can make more money and share some of that with you in the form of rewards.

Q. Does Rewarded Interest share or sell my data?
A. "Rewarded Interest does not share or sell your data. We collect minimal data about you – only what we need to make the service work. Our model is different."
This is important, so we want to be clear. Rewarded Interest does not share or sell your data. Other than to provide our services to you and detect fraud, we don't collect data. Selling data is not our business. Instead, advertisers pay to see and use an ID, which we call a CMAID ("see-maid"), as you visit websites, watch videos, and use apps. Advertisers and their suppliers use the CMAID in conjunction with observations to correlate (connect) those observations - and build profiles to understand which products and services you might want to buy or learn more about. They use these profiles when they buy ads to help them decide when and how much to pay. Data without identity has limited value. But data with identity together is valuable. This is why advertisers pay us and you to see your CMAID.

Q. What's in it for advertisers?
A. Having an ID that you have explicitly said they can use means they can be much more efficient with how they spend their money. We charge them 10% of what they spend to target you, but it can make them up to 50% more efficient. We share 5% with you of the total amount they spend to target you.

Q. Will using Rewarded Interest mean I get more ads?
A. No. Apps and sites manage the number of ads they show when you visit them. Using Rewarded Interest allows them to make more money per ad, but does not directly impact the number of ads you receive.
Q. What happens if a site or ad tech vendor doesn't work with Rewarded Interest?
A. When we set your consent, we remove or over-ride the site's consent interface. Therefore, the do not have consent for any related use (purpose) or company (vendor). Only if they use the provided API based information can they get your consent. In this way, we ensure they need to adhere to your preferences.

Q. What data does Reward Interest share with advertisers, publishers, or ad tech partners for advertising?
A. None. Rewarded Interest does not share any data (other than your ID) with these companies.
Q. What data does Rewarded Interest have associated with me?
A. We have your Rewarded Interest ID, your Rewarded Interest account information, and information required to provide the service (for example, how much you have earned, the information needed to enable payment to you, and your settings).

Q. I'm an Advertiser, Demand Side Platform or Publisher. What's in it for me?
A. We partner with Advertisers and Demand Side Platforms to use our ID and Publishers to help drive awareness. Learn more on our partner page.
